the Spring | Summer ’23 shoot with inspiring LOCAL tips.
INTRO
As the tradition wants it, we organized a photo shoot for the launch of our Spring | Summer 2023 collection with this time the destination being Spain! From Almería, an important port city with lots of charm and history located at the foot of a mountain range crowned by the magnificent Alcazaba to the coastlines of Alicante. “That city with its beautiful Southern sprawling beaches?” True, but also so much more! Will you walk with us?
ALTEA, A JEWEL ON THE COSTA BLANCA
Altea is not immediately very well known to the general public, but that makes it all the
more fun! A beautiful, typical Mediterranean village with white houses, colored flowers,
narrow streets and a view to feast your eyes on. The destination is actually ideal to visit all
year round. So, for us the location to put our summer shoes in the spotlight. Sporty chic or
stylish chic? The sights of Altea:
Altea is not immediately very well known to the general public, but that makes it all the more fun! A beautiful, typical Mediterranean village with white houses, colored flowers, narrow streets and a view to feast your eyes on. The destination is actually ideal to visit all year round. So, for us the location to put our summer shoes in the spotlight. Sporty chic or stylish chic? The sights of Altea:
- Casco Antiguo
The old center is also called Casco Antiguo and is built on a hill so it has a lot of winding streets with beautiful white houses. There are a lot of terraces, restaurants, galleries and cute little stores here. You find the old town through the old gate, Portal Viejo. - Playa por favor!
Too hot in the city? Grab your favorite CTWLK sandals and go for a lovely walk on the beach. Altea has about six kilometers of coastline with several beaches for you to enjoy, with accompanying snacks and drinks of course. - Y para comer?
As you can expect from Spain, you will also find delicious restaurants in Altea.
– Xef pirata (highly recommended!) : delicious tapas restaurant.
– il Giardino Nova Bussola: Italian and Mediterranean dishes.
– Nou Valentino: The lobster menu is highly recommended!
– Restaurante Oustau de Altea: French and Spanish cuisine.
EL MIRADOR DEL FARO DE SANTA POLA
Mirador? That’s a lookout point ! Our Spring | Summer collection brought us to inspiring places with breathtaking views. Like The viewpoint of the Santa Pola lighthouse, one of the most beautiful spots in the region of Valencia. Ideal for a walk or to enjoy a sunrise or sunset. By the way, the CTWLK moccasin is the perfect shoe for this !
STANDING STRONG. THE CATHEDRAL OF ALMERIA.
No better place to shoot our gladiator sandals near this powerful cathedral. What stands out about the Cathedral of Almería are the sturdy walls and towers (castle style) with which it is equipped. With these, the church stood its ground during numerous pirate attacks on Almería. The church may be robust on the outside, but inside it is refined. In the interior, Renaissance, baroque and neoclassical styles are evident.
PLAZA VIEJA DE ALMERÍA, THE ETERNAL SYMBOL OF FREEDOM
The Plaza de la Constitución, popularly called Plaza Vieja because it is the oldest square in the city, has been the social, political and administrative center of Almería for centuries. In the center of the square stands ” The Monument to the Martyrs of Liberty,” a symbolic obelisk dedicated to 24 liberal people, who came to the beaches of Almería wearing red coats (hence the name), to proclaim freedom and the constitution against the despotism of Fernando VII, who was shot on Aug. 24, 1824. A typically Spanish place to enjoy a drink and rest one’s feet and, above all, reflect on its history.
ALCAZABA DE ALMERIA
We put on our bold shoes with a visit to Alcazaba, a 10th-century citadel that stands on the site where Arab rulers ruled until the end of the 15th century. It is a fortress built by the Moors. By the way, the fortress appears in numerous movies and television series, such as Conan the Barbarian and the worldwide hit Game of Thrones and Indiana Jones !
SLOW LIVING. DE MEDITERRANEAN CTWLK VIBES.
The white-painted houses and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea make us all dream of slow living. One of enjoyment and tranquility. Typical of the Spanish regions. The architecture exudes summer and also inspired us to showcase the colorful variations of the CTWLK Seventies Sandals. Which one is your favorite?
RESTAURANT TIP ! ELCHE MASIA EL CHENGO
The most important thing about Spanish cuisine is that it is “la mesa buena” (a richly filled table). Eating or hosting a dinner party in Spain is a social event to which Spaniards spend a lot of time. We have already enjoyed it at the restaurant La Masía de Chencho. This restaurant is located in the countryside of Elche, a few kilometers from the city of Elche.
The typical dish here is the Arroz Negro Paella with squid. Gracias Chengo and Manolo.
